As part of the PERE Awards 2022 “ESG Firm of the Year: Asia”, Stéphane Villemain, Head of Sustainable Investment, and Xuchao Wu, Manager, Sustainable Investment, Asia-Pacific, sat with PERE to discuss our main ESG achievements in Asia over the past year and the main challenges to be met in terms of ESG. They highlight how alignment of interest on ESG performance is key to engage with the entire real estate value chain.
Across Asia-Pacific region, as in other regions of the world, we have started developing and rolling out decarbonization plans for our key assets, incorporating currently available measures and options in energy efficiency and renewable energy, and taking a forward-looking view of what will be made available in the future due to regulatory changes and technology advancement. We are also convinced that investment in ESG initiatives may generate a higher return over the long term. The alignment of interest is key, and we look to better link financial incentives and performance with ESG performance across the entire value chain.
