BDC chooses Place Ville Marie

BDC renews a long-term lease for more than 16,000 m2 (173,000 ft2) at Place Ville Marie

Montreal, Quebec, Canada – Ivanhoé Cambridge, owner of Place Ville Marie, is proud to announce its continued partnership with Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) at Place Ville Marie, with a new long-term lease for more than 16,000 m2 (173,000 ft2). This agreement will be among the largest leasing transactions this year in Montreal’s Class A office building market.

The agreement will enable BDC to bring together all of its employees in a single location at 5 Place Ville Marie. Established at Place Ville Marie since 1994, BDC will take advantage of this opportunity to redesign its office space in order to promote collaboration and innovation. This work will also allow BDC to apply for LEED® Canada-CI (Commercial Interiors) certification.

Place Ville Marie earned LEED® Silver certification in the (EB:O&M) (Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance) category in January 2015, ranking the complex among Montreal’s best-performing and most energy-efficient buildings.

“We are very proud of this important business relationship with BDC,” said Bernard Poliquin, Senior Vice President, Office, Quebec, at Ivanhoé Cambridge. “This transaction once again illustrates Place Ville Marie’s strength as the leader in office space in the heart of Montreal’s business district.”

“We are delighted to be able to call Place Ville Marie home for the foreseeable future. This agreement will enable us to continue to innovate in how we provide our employees with a modern and collaborative workplace, making BDC an even greater place to work in downtown Montreal,” said Louise Paradis, Senior Vice President, Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary, at BDC. “Moreover, our application for LEED Canada-CI certification adds to the many other actions already taken by BDC to lead the way in supporting environmental sustainability.”

BDC is the first Canadian financial institution to receive B Corp certification, meeting rigorous standards of social and environmental performance.

About Place Ville Marie
An architectural jewel designed by I.M. Pei (creator of the famous pyramid at the Louvre) and Henry N. Cobb, the Place Ville Marie complex stands out with its famous cruciform tower, the highest of its type in Canada at 188 metres (617 feet). Still very contemporary, Place Ville Marie has become, as suggested by the visionary spirits who conceived it in 1962, a “city within a city” and forms the heart of Montreal’s business centre. The Galerie Place Ville Marie still moves to the beat of the major trends while creating a warm, dynamic space. For more information, visit www.placevillemarie.com
