Fairmont Le Château Frontenac hotel, an Ivanhoé Cambridge property, has won the “Business of the Year Award” at the 2014 Canadian Tourism Awards. This prestigious distinction is awarded by the Tourism Association of Canada to a business that exemplifies industry best practices in all aspects of its operations, and is thus an example of all-round business excellence in the tourism industry.
“This award is very good news that confirms the hotel’s enviable reputation,” says Sylvain Fortier, Executive Vice President, Residential, Hotels and Real Estate Investment Funds, for Ivanhoé Cambridge. “Our investments program infused new life into this famous asset. Its modernized amenities are creating even greater enthusiasm among visitors, whether they are there for an overnight stay, a drink, or a superb dining experience.”
The hotel, symbolic of Old Quebec City, recently underwent a restoration whose features were announced this past June. From the complete renovation of nearly 330 guestrooms to the replacement of its famed copper roof, the addition of banquet and meeting space, the reinvention of its culinary experience, the transformation of its common areas and the construction of a spa, the modernization marked the start of a new era that enables the Château Frontenac to continue its long and internationally renowned tradition of hospitality in a new, contemporary spirit that respects its history.
