Black Friday frenzy at 21 Ivanhoé Cambridge shopping centres in Canada

Ivanhoé Cambridge’s national “Black Friday One-Day Wonder” campaign will culminate on Friday, November 28

With Black Friday consistently growing in popularity, Ivanhoé Cambridge’s national “Black Friday: One-Day Wonder” campaign will culminate on Friday, November 28, at most of its shopping centres across Canada. The campaign has been under way since November 14 on the Web and social media platforms of its various Canadian shopping centres.

When the centres’ doors open at 7 a.m. (8 a.m. in Quebec), customers will be treated to extraordinary promotions offered by our retailers and will also be eligible to win a $25,000 shopping spree at an Ivanhoé Cambridge shopping centre.

For his part, Roman Drohomirecki, Co-Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, Central and Western Region, for Ivanhoé Cambridge, said: “Based on numbers from 2012, a pivotal year in the history of Black Friday in Canada, we are building on the strength of our Canadian shopping centres portfolio to plan a truly Canadian campaign.” He continued: “In 2013, we noticed that the success of Black Friday was much more than a passing trend and that it has become part of Canadians’ shopping habits. We have retailers who saw their daily comparable sales grow by 150% or posted their best revenues in decades. That’s why we have redoubled our creativity to support our retailers’ efforts and to capitalize on Black Friday’s success.”

“Black Friday is now well-established in Canada and Canadians have made it clear that they consider it one of the year’s top shopping moments,” said Claude Sirois, Co-Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, for Ivanhoé Cambridge. “Last year, we saw a 22% average increase in shopper traffic in every Canadian region, as well as an exponential rise in our retailers’ rate of participation in Black Friday promotional activities.” He added: “Given this trend, we have developed activities that we will be rolling out on our digital platforms, among others, to take advantage of the long and exciting run-up to Black Friday and to offer consumers a distinctive shopping experience.”

A host of special activities are planned for today, Black Friday, and will continue at some centres throughout the entire weekend. For details of the program at each centre, visit the websites of the properties nearest you.
