Gowlings chooses Place Ville Marie

Ivanhoé Cambridge is proud to announce that Gowlings has renewed its lease at 1 Place Ville Marie

Ivanhoé Cambridge is proud to announce that Gowlings has renewed its lease for 5 195 m2 (55,916 ft2) at 1 Place Ville Marie. Gowlings, one of Canada’s leading full-service business law firms, has occupied this space since 1984.

The firm’s management has chosen Place Ville Marie for its well-known qualities: a prestigious address, an efficient transportation network connected to the vibrant “Underground City,” and a panoply of well-known commercial activities.

“We salute Gowlings’ decision and their unequivocal commitment to Place Ville Marie’s future,” declared Claude Sirois, Co-Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, Québec at Ivanhoé Cambridge. “Thanks to important investments over the past ten years to modernize Place Ville Marie, we will soon celebrate its LEED® Silver Certification, demonstrating once again the building’s competitive edge in the AAA office market.”

Today, more than 200 legal professionals and staff make up Gowlings’ multidisciplinary team in Montreal, spread over two floors of the iconic building.

Ivanhoé Cambridge also thanks Avison Young for the firm’s collaboration in this transaction.

About Place Ville Marie

An architectural jewel designed by I.M. Pei (creator of the famous pyramid at the Louvre) and Henry N. Cobb, the Place Ville Marie complex stands out with its famous cruciform tower, the highest of its type in Canada at 188 metres (617 feet). Still very contemporary, Place Ville Marie has become, as suggested by the visionary spirits who conceived it in 1962, a “city within a city” and forms the heart of Montreal’s business centre. The Galerie Place Ville Marie still moves to the beat of the major trends while creating a warm, dynamic space. Nearly 80 renowned restaurants and shops can be found there.
