Place Montréal Trust, a property owned and managed by Ivanhoé Cambridge, announces today the unveiling of The Goalie, a statue portraying Ken Dryden, the former star goaltender of the Montreal Canadiens. This magnificent sculpture created by Robin Bell and displayed at Place Vertu for 26 years will now be exhibited at the metro level of the shopping centre, in the heart of downtown Montreal. Montrealers and tourists alike will have a new opportunity to admire this inspiring work of art.

Starting today, Place Montréal Trust will be offering two new $5,000 annual bursaries to Midget AAA players in order to motivate them to pursue their education while practicing hockey. The first scholarship is for students already enrolled in college; the second, for high school or cégep students whose income does not allow them to pursue both their education and hockey.
A miniature version of the statue–the Ken Dryden Trophy–will still be presented each year to the most promising goaltenders of the Ligue de développement du hockey Midget AAA du Québec. This trophy, along with a $1,000 scholarship for the winner and two $500 scholarships for two finalists, is awarded each spring during the Brunch of Champions. Winners from previous years include Stéphane Fiset, Mathieu Garon, Martin Biron and Jean-Sébastien Giguère.
As of August 30, Place Montréal Trust will highlight this event by presenting Montreal Hockey, a retrospective of hockey history in Montreal–the trainers, the players, the phantoms of the Forum, the innovations and the great championships–with a special section dedicated to Ken Dryden and his remarkable achievements as goaltender for the Habs. The exhibition will be on display at the metro level at Place Montréal Trust.
