Frédéric Godbout is the Chief Investment Officer for the Desjardins Group Pension Plan (DGPP). He's responsible for developing, executing and monitoring the investment strategies for a portfolio of over $20 billion in various asset classes. He also oversees the management and the development of the DGPP investment teams. Prior to joining the DGPP, Frédéric spent 19 years at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), where he was Vice-President, Funds, Private Markets. In addition to establishing and managing strategic partnerships for different asset classes (private equity, public markets, fixed income, real estate and infrastructure), he handled a portfolio representing over 60 investment relationships and a commitment of over $30 billion. Frédéric co-chaired the CDPQ Investment Committee and implemented a strategy for innovation in sustainable investing with a $500 million allocation. He was also the deputy head of the international private equity group, which covers a broad range of investment teams, industries and transactions. He sat on the investment committees for private equity portfolios, infrastructure portfolios, financing solutions, credit, and stock market value strategy.

Experience and education
Frédéric has over 27 years of experience in finance. Prior to joining the CDPQ in 2002, he was a consultant at Modelcom and held several positions at Royal Bank Financial Group. He graduated from HEC in Montreal in 1995, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Community involvement
Frédéric sits on the boards of directors of the Saint Joseph’s Oratory Foundation and of the Opéra de Montréal. He has also sat on the board for the Institutional Investors Roundtable.
