Managing Director, India, Asia-Pacific
Chanakya (Chan) Chakravarti is responsible for implementing, in his territory, the investment and asset-management strategies outlined in Ivanhoé Cambridge’s annual business plan and strategic plan, assisted by a team formed for that purpose. He works closely with the Growth Markets team and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to put in place and consolidate strategic partnerships for major projects in India.
Mr. Chakravarti is a seasoned manager with more than 27 years of experience, including over 20 years in real estate, investment and development in India and sub-Saharan Africa. Before joining Ivanhoé Cambridge in 2017, he was Managing Director, Global Real Assets, Asia, at J.P. Morgan Chase. From 2007 to 2011, he worked for Actis Capital LLP, first as Managing Director and then as Chief Executive Officer of BlueLife Ltd. in Mauritius, an Actis portfolio company. Before that, he was Joint Managing Director and Country Manager at Cushman & Wakefield South Asia for eight years.
Mr. Chakravarti holds a Bachelor of Commerce (majored in accounting and economics) from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, affiliated with the University of Mumbai. He speaks English, Hindi, Bengali and Marathi fluently.
