December 8, 2008

Jean Laramée, Senior Vice President, Eastern Region, Ivanhoe Cambridge, is proud to announce that 11 of the Company’s shopping centres and one office building have been awarded BESt certification by BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association) Canada. The properties are all located in Quebec and are owned, co-owned and managed by Ivanhoe Cambridge.

“Ivanhoe Cambridge’s Environmental Management Program is proof that sustainability is a key priority for us, that we are committed to reducing our ecological footprint and doing our part to protect the environment. As recognized leaders in the Canadian shopping centre industry, we believe that this certification represents a significant competitive advantage when it comes to attracting new tenants to our shopping centres and office buildings,” Mr. Laramée said. “Our congratulations and thanks to the teams that manage these properties, as well as to the tenants and suppliers who support them.”

The properties that have recently received BOMA BESt certification are Carrefour St-Georges (Saint-Georges-de-Beauce), Carrefour Frontenac (Thetford Mines), Centre commercial Rivière-du-Loup (Rivière-du-Loup), Centropolis (Laval), Galeries de Hull (Gatineau), Galeries Rive Nord (Repentigny), Mail Champlain (Brossard), Place Montréal Trust (Montreal), Place Ste-Foy (Quebec City), Place Vertu (Montreal), Rockland (Town of Mount Royal) and the office building at 3333 Côte-Vertu (Montreal).

“Sustainable development is increasingly important for Ivanhoe Cambridge. That is why we are putting in place the required resources and business processes to manage our properties and develop our new projects with a green mindset. We are also working to raise awareness of these issues among employees, suppliers, clients and partners,” said Doug Harman, Vice President, Property Services, at Ivanhoe Cambridge.

Ivanhoe Cambridge is one of the North American shopping centre industry’s biggest purchasers of green power. Since the early 2000s, several of its centres in Alberta and Ontario have adopted green energy solutions. In fact, the Company’s Toronto corporate office at 95 Wellington has all of its energy needs supplied by eco-friendly sources. And in 2007 a deal was signed to operate St. Enoch Centre in Scotland (U.K.) solely on green power.

BOMA BESt (Building Environmental Standards) is a voluntary Canadian environmental certification program recognizing buildings that embrace environmental performance best practices. It is the next generation of BOMA Canada’s Go Green and Go Green Plus programs. BOMA BESt certification guarantees that buildings are managed in an eco-friendly manner in terms of energy use, water use, heating and recycling and that they have implemented a preventive maintenance programs.
