Publix supermarket set to open in Ivanhoe Cambridge’s Mary Brickell Village, located in Miami, Florida

November 29, 2007

Montreal, Quebec - Canadian-based global property company Ivanhoe Cambridge today announced that Publix Super Markets, the largest and fastest-growing employee-owned supermarket in the U.S., has signed a lease in the upscale Mary Brickell Village in the heart of Miami’s Brickell Financial District, Florida. Publix is the latest in a growing list of tenants in the centre, which includes an eclectic mix of high-end shops, restaurants and services for customers and residents of the Brickell area and beyond.

“Ivanhoe Cambridge is committed to bringing the right mix of tenants into Mary Brickell Village to meet the needs of our customers who value a diverse selection of upscale shopping, dining and services in a stylish and sophisticated setting,” said David Baffa, Vice President, Development, Ivanhoe Cambridge.  “With its standing as an award-winning, community-driven premier retailer, Publix is a natural complement to our existing combination of boutique shops, services and restaurants.”

In addition to the traditional grocery, meat, produce, dairy and frozen food departments, the new 31,000-square-foot Publix location will offer full-service bakery, deli, and fresh seafood departments. This unique, upscale store will also feature two levels of dedicated parking for Publix customers above the store.

“Publix is eager to offer a top quality grocery shopping experience to the growing communities of the Brickell area and Mary Brickell Village,” said Shannon Patten, Publix manager of media and community relations. “We look forward to serving our customers alongside the other shops and services at the centre.”

The addition of Publix to Mary Brickell Village marks the beginning of an exciting period of activity within the centre. By Christmas 2007, the centre will offer customers 25 shops and services. By spring 2008, the total amount of tenants is expected to reach 39. This growth is in line with the centre's positioning to be the premier shopping and dining destination for discerning customers in and outside of the prestigious Brickell area.

“Since opening our first stores in May 2006, we have seen a steady increase in our traffic,” said Baffa.  “At almost 200,000 square feet over two floors, Mary Brickell Village fulfils a gap in the under-retailed market in the Brickell area, providing an attractive and unique meeting place for visitors to shop and dine.”

Construction on the new Publix location is scheduled to begin in early 2008 with a grand opening planned for late spring / early summer 2008.
